First off, I want to thank everyone for giving me the space to vent in my last post. I have received a lot of comments from other vendors and fiber artists as well as customers. I think it’s important that these kinds of conversations happen out in the open as well as behind the scenes. Festivals are going to look different when we can finally have them in person again. But, it’s important that you know why. And it’s also important that you know just how much of a struggle it is for those of us who may survive.
I needed a minute to get all of the frustration out so that I could push forward and come up with a plan to keep going. So, thank you for giving me the encouragement and space to do just that. As a result, here we are, going full speed ahead into September! And I wanted to tell you all about what we have planned now that our plans are finalized.
First, we are still going to NJ Sheep and Wool on September 11-12. Info for the festival can be found here: https://njsheep.net/
We know that the cancellation of VTSW was a disappointment for literally everyone – customers and vendors alike. So, we have partnered with some of the VTSW vendors and a couple of pretty awesome yarn shops to give you a weekend full of pop-up shops! Check out Must Love Yarn’s Instagram page for more details about their event which is running both Saturday and Sunday with different vendors each day. Here’s where we will be:
October 2, 10am-2pm @ Must Love Yarn in Shelburne, VT
October 3, 11am-2pm @ Hermit Thrush in Bristol, VT
We are so very grateful to these stores for hosting us. We couldn’t ask for a better fiber community than what we have here in Vermont. Supporting each other is how we get through this.
On a personal note, we have two family events going on in between these fiber events, so we will need to get tested before and after each event, which means two tests a week for the entire month of September and the first week in October. But, I think it’s worth it to make sure everyone is safe. This is the first time since the pandemic started that we have this much going on, so it’s going to feel weird being out and about so much.
I hope to see you at the in-person events, but also don’t forget that VTSW is doing a virtual event that weekend as well (Oct 2-3). Watch their Facebook and Instagram for updates. We hope to participate in that as much as we can for those of you who can’t make it to see us in person.
In the meantime, just keep stitching.
